A productive and engaging morning at the GMOA office on 23rd February 2026.
We were honoured to welcome Maritime Union of India (MUI) representatives Capt. Savio Ramos (General Secretary) and Mr. Dores Colaco, who were warmly received by our members with a bouquet and heartfelt appreciation.
The visit focused on strengthening ties between GMOA and MUI, while creating an open platform to discuss key concerns faced by our officers, both in person and through online submissions. Important topics such as MUI app payment issues, CBA wage increments, provident fund proposals for foreign-going officers, corruption concerns in Indian ports, dark fleet matters, medical facilities, STCW refresher courses in Goa, Certificate of Equivalence issues, and greater collaboration between GMOA and MUI were discussed in detail.
A memorandum highlighting crucial issues was formally handed over to Capt. Savio Ramos to be addressed and presented at the upcoming MUI Board Meeting.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with meaningful discussions, assurance of follow-ups, and a reaffirmation of the special bond between MUI and GMOA.
We sincerely appreciate Capt. Savio Ramos for taking the initiative to visit and interact directly with our members. Together, we move forward stronger and more united for the welfare of our seafarers.



A meaningful and encouraging visit by Capt Nelson Dias (Fleet manager -Audit) at the GMOA office on 03rd February 2026.
We were honoured to welcome Capt. Nelson Dias (Fleet Manager, Audit) of Dockendale Ship Management, who was warmly received by the GMOA Committee Members. Greetings were exchanged, flowers were presented by 3/E Mr. Heston Dias, and a GMOA memento was presented by Capt. Saude Cardozo as a token of appreciation.
During the interaction, Capt. Nelson Dias was briefed on GMOA’s various initiatives, with special focus on our Student Awareness Programmes and activities dedicated to guiding Goan youth towards promising careers in the maritime sector.
Capt. Nelson expressed sincere appreciation for the work undertaken by GMOA and shared that Dockendale Ship Management is keen to support aspiring Goan students in shipping. He highlighted the company’s openness to sponsoring students, covering the journey from sponsorship through to training.
He also assured that the details of the meeting would be conveyed to the senior management of Dockendale Ship Management and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the relationship with GMOA.
Together, we continue building stronger pathways for the next generation of seafarers.

VISION
The vision of the Goa Maritime Officers Association is to foster a community of strong, capable, and dedicated leaders who uphold the highest standards of excellence, integrity, and service in the Maritime field. Through professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities, we strive to empower Marine officers to make a lasting impact in their respective fields and the nation. Together, we aim to cultivate a legacy of leadership and camaraderie that will inspire future generations of Marine officers.

OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the GMOA is to unite and to shift the focus from self-interest to the contribution towards the welfare of the Maritime community and society in general. The goal is to promote Goa's Maritime interests and foster a sense of camaraderie among like-minded maritime professionals. 1. To have close association and interaction with Shipping Ministry ( National and International ), DG shipping India, Mercantile Marine Department (MMD), Mormugao Port Authority (MPA), River Navigation Department Goa, Captain Of Ports Goa and various Maritime Boards in India and all Maritime Authorities. 2. Association intends to create awareness and highlight role of sailing and non-sailing maritime officers and engineers in nation building by serving and protecting maritime assets and maritime environment.

Coming from a non seafaring background, I owe my success to the family I made in the Maritime Community over the years. Our association's strength lies in the collective passion and dedication of each member, and it is with great pride that I serve as your President. With determination in our hearts and a shared vision in our minds, I am confident that we will flourish and make history together.
